1997 Dodge Ram 5.9L Diesel Firewall Computer (PCM)
Remanufactured powertrain control module (PCM) for the 1997 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins Diesel, programmed to your VIN before it ships. The immobilizer is handled here, so there is no dealer visit and no locksmith.
This is the firewall-mounted computer — it bolts to the firewall on the passenger side of the engine bay and runs the transmission, the gauges and speedometer, and the fuel-pump relay. On a 1997 truck the injection pump is mechanical, so this is the only computer on the vehicle: there is no separate engine-mounted ECM.
Chrysler renumbered this part over its life. Your old unit’s label may read 56040504, 56040453 or 05014155 — the same part, renumbered, and the one you receive may carry either number.
If your unit carries an Authorized Software Update sticker, that number supersedes every other number on the label. Where to find your part number
